The World’s Most Powerful Laptop in 2024 A Chinese technology company has recently unveiled the world’s most powerful laptop, accompanied by an unconventional design. Traditional laptops are typically compact and lightweight, allowing users to carry them effortlessly. However, due to the limited space for hardware components, laptops often fall short in achieving the powerful performance of desktop PCs. Contrary to the trend of slim and lightweight designs in the laptop market, Xinjuneng Technology (China) has introduced a laptop known as the “stone mortar and pestle” with the most powerful configuration in the world today.
I. What is a laptop?
A laptop, also known as a notebook computer, is a type of portable computer that can be conveniently carried. They typically feature a compact design, integrated display, keyboard, and either a touchpad or touch-sensitive control. Laptops are designed to provide processing power and functionality equivalent to desktop computers, but with the convenience of portability, allowing users to work or entertain themselves anywhere.
The main components of a laptop include the central processing unit (CPU), memory (RAM), a hard drive or SSD for data storage, display screen, keyboard, touchpad, or mouse, and various ports for connecting external peripherals. The product, named Yunguai REV-9, features a 17.5-inch display with a 2K resolution, a refresh rate of 240Hz, or users can opt to upgrade to a 4K resolution with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The laptop is equipped with the AMD EPYC processor, boasting 64 cores and 128 processing threads. Although this processor is originally designed for servers, Xinjuneng Technology has integrated it into its product, making the REV-9 the world’s first laptop with a 64-core processor.
Alongside the powerful processor, the REV-9 is also equipped with a GeForce RTX-4808 graphics processing unit, featuring 16GB of memory, easily meeting the demands of high-end graphics processing tasks and games.
To ensure the stability of a laptop with such a powerful configuration, the REV-9 is equipped with a liquid cooling system instead of a conventional fan cooling system. Additionally, beneath the keyboard of the REV-9, there is a small 3.5-inch display that shows operational parameters such as temperature and battery level.
Of course, to accommodate a powerful configuration and a liquid cooling system, the REV-9 cannot have a slim and lightweight design. Instead, it adopts a distinctive “stone mortar and pestle” style or, to put it differently, an unconventional design. The laptop measures 11.6cm in thickness when folded and the main body is 10cm thick when the screen is open.
III. The selling price of a laptop
The price of the REV-9 has not been disclosed yet, but the AMD EPYC processor alone ranges from $7,000 to $9,000. Therefore, it is safe to say that the price of this laptop will not be budget-friendly.
